Nexum MUPS 20 Tablet contains Esomeprazole 20 mg formulated using Multiple Unit Pellet System (MUPS) technology. This advanced formulation consists of enteric-coated pellets that protect the drug from gastric acid and allow controlled release in the intestine, ensuring optimal absorption and therapeutic effect.
It is indicated for the treatment of acid-related disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and peptic ulcer disease. The drug acts by inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells, thereby significantly reducing acid secretion.
Nexum MUPS 20 provides effective symptom relief from heartburn, acid regurgitation, and epigastric discomfort, while promoting healing of the gastrointestinal mucosa. It should be taken 30–60 minutes before meals, usually once daily, or as directed by a registered physician. The tablet must not be crushed or chewed to maintain its modified-release characteristics.
