Nexum 40 Capsule contains Esomeprazole 40 mg, a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid secretion by selectively inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system in gastric parietal cells. It is indicated for the management of acid-related disorders including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and peptic ulcer disease.
This higher strength formulation is typically prescribed in patients requiring more intensive acid suppression or in cases of severe symptoms. It provides sustained relief from acid-related symptoms such as heartburn, acid regurgitation, and epigastric discomfort, while promoting mucosal healing.
Nexum 40 Capsule may also be used in combination regimens for Helicobacter pylori eradication. For optimal therapeutic effect, it should be administered 30–60 minutes before meals, usually once daily, or as directed by a registered physician.
