Nexum 20 Capsule contains Esomeprazole 20 mg, a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid secretion by inhibiting the H⁺/K⁺-ATPase enzyme system in the gastric parietal cells. It is widely used in the management of acid-related disorders such as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, and peptic ulcer disease.
The medication provides effective relief from symptoms including heartburn, acid regurgitation, and epigastric discomfort, while facilitating mucosal healing in the gastrointestinal tract. It may also be used as part of combination therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication, as directed by a physician.
For optimal efficacy, Nexum 20 Capsule should be taken at least 30–60 minutes before meals, usually once daily, or as advised by a registered healthcare professional.
